Some say it's the white man's blues...
Its most recent origins lie in the encounter between Celtic music and black American gospel.
Between 1600 and 1700, when the Irish, Italians, Scots, Germans and Spaniards left Europe to find a better world, they left with their instruments: fiddle, dulcimer, mandolin, guitar, banjo.
Everyone lived together, worked together, prayed together, and instruments blended.
Then came the rush to the West in 1800. The cowboys sing to give themselves courage, the fiddle that accompanies them has become Fiddle, and a harmonica and guitar have been added. This is Texas.
